A white cabinet beside an armchair with a tabby cat stepping out through the arched opening in its front.
The same cabinet used as a side table with a cat looking out from inside it.
The cabinet alone against a white background, showing the open display shelf above and the louvred door below.
All three are the supplier’s, and all three are untouched. This is the one listing we have found where every photograph is clean, with no sales text printed over it, so nothing here is cropped. We have not had this one in our hands.

The part nobody mentions

An enclosure is a box a cat has to agree to.

Hiding a litter tray solves your problem, not the cat’s. Cats generally prefer a tray that is large, open and easy to leave, and shutting one inside a cabinet takes away the sightlines that make it feel safe to use.

Most cats adapt to an enclosure without any fuss. Some do not, and the ones that do not tend to tell you by going somewhere else. If yours is nervous, or you have more than one cat and any tension between them, leave the door off for the first fortnight and watch before you commit.

We have written the longer version of this, including what the feline environmental guidelines actually say, in the journal.

The cabinet alone, front on.

Thin, and we will say which rows are missing.

This is a large piece of furniture and the supplier publishes almost no measurements for it. That is the single biggest reason to hesitate, so it is at the top of the table rather than buried.

The Litter Cabinet · white, side table
External sizeNot published anywhere on the supplier’s listing. For a thing that has to fit a specific gap in a specific room, that is a real gap, and we have asked them for it. Do not order this if it has to fit an exact alcove
Internal sizeAlso not published, which means we cannot tell you which trays fit. Measure your tray and write to us before ordering and we will find out rather than guess
MaterialTheir sheet says "Others". It is photographed as a painted panel construction. At 34 lb it is not solid hardwood, and we are not going to name a board type we have not seen
ColourWhite, one finish only
EntryArched opening in one end panel
TopOpen display shelf above the enclosed section
TrayNot included. This is the cabinet only
AssemblyNot stated. A 34 lb cabinet at this price is almost certainly flat packed, but the listing does not say so

What it is not

Four reasons not to buy this.

If one of these is a dealbreaker, we would rather you found out here than after the box arrives.

We cannot tell you how big it is.

No external dimensions and no internal dimensions on the supplier’s listing. For furniture that is close to indefensible, and it is the reason we nearly did not list it. Write to us with your tray size before you order and we will chase the number rather than let you find out on the doorstep.

The tray is not in the box.

You are buying the cabinet. If you were expecting a complete litter setup for this money, you were expecting the wrong thing, and we would rather say it here than in a returns email.

It does not solve smell by itself.

An enclosure contains the sight of a tray, not the contents of one. A closed box with poor airflow can concentrate odour rather than remove it. Nothing here replaces scooping daily, and no cabinet ever has.

White, in the room with the litter.

One finish, and it is the colour that shows tracked litter and scuffs most clearly. It photographs beautifully and it will need wiping. If you have a cat that kicks, expect to see it.

A hundred and thirty nine dollars, and a side table instead.
